世界中で大人気のアニメ「進撃の巨人」。2015年には 前篇『進撃の巨人 ATTACK ON TITAN』と後篇『進撃の巨人 ATTACK ON TITAN エンド オブ ザ ワールド』に分かれる長編の実写映画が公開されました。現実に存在しない兵器を使い、巨人を倒すなど実写化が難しいシーンがふんだんに盛り込まれた作品のため、ファンの間では期待と不安の声が上がっていました。自身からオファーした当初の監督が降板し、映画の公開も延期されるなど制作は波瀾万丈。映画は設定の変更やオリジナルキャラクターの登場、不安視されていた立体起動装置のアクションシーンなどに原作ファンから厳しい声が寄せられた一方、俳優の演技や特撮技術は評価されるなど賛否の分かれる映画となっています。トレイラー映像に寄せられた海外からのコメントをみると、おおよそ日本人と同じ感想をもっているようです。
