ハウルの動く城が公開されてから20年。「人生のメリーゴーランド 」は2004年に公開されたスタジオジブリの映画「ハウルの動く城」の挿入曲です。「ハウルの動く城」はダイアナ・ウィン・ジョーンズ氏の『魔法使いハウルと火の悪魔』を原作とし、宮﨑駿氏が監督脚本を務めた映画で、音楽は久石譲氏が担当しています。「人生のメリーゴーランド」は主題歌ではありませんが、倍賞千恵子さんが歌うテーマ曲「世界の約束」と共に映画を象徴する音楽として愛されています。
