5月28日午後8時「全国一斉悪疫退散祈願 Cheer up! 花火プロジェクト」が行われました。
夏の風物詩として毎年私たちを楽しませてくれる花火ですが、今年は約30か所の花火大会が中止になりました。花火は火薬でできているため、保存ができずすぐに劣化してしまいます。全国約150社の花火業者が参加し、コロナウイルス感染症の終息を願って廃棄になる予定だった花火を全国各地から同時刻に花火を打ち上げるプロジェクトを行いました。これがBBCでも取り上げられ、公式ツイッターには海外からの反応が寄せられています。奇しくも、同じ日にアメリカでは暴動が起きていたためアメリカと比べる声も多く、日本の花火事情を知らないのか、火災の危険がある、偽善的といった批判の声も上がっていました。
